Senior Contracts Manager

Location: Dublin, Ireland

Reporting to: Managing Director

About The Client

Our client is a specialist project delivery company focused on delivering renewable energy and decarbonisation projects across Ireland. They partner with clients to deliver complex, high-value infrastructure and energy solutions that support the transition to a more sustainable future.

As their portfolio continues to grow, they are seeking an experienced Senior Contracts Manager to lead the commercial and contractual management of projects across the country.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Senior Contracts Manager will be responsible for overseeing all contractual and legal aspects of our client’s project portfolio. This portfolio includes projects in areas such as solar, wind, battery storage and heat pumps. This is a senior leadership role requiring a commercially astute professional with extensive experience managing complex contracts throughout the project lifecycle.

The successful candidate will act as the company's subject matter expert on contractual matters, ensuring that risks are effectively managed, contractual obligations are fulfilled, and commercial interests are protected while maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and key stakeholders.

A legal qualification is desirable; however, candidates with significant experience managing complex construction, engineering, infrastructure, or energy contracts and a strong understanding of contract law and legal risk will also be considered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the contractual management of renewable energy and decarbonisation projects across Ireland.
  • Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a broad range of client, consultant, subcontractor, and supplier contracts.
  • Provide expert advice to senior management on contractual obligations, legal risks, and commercial matters.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate contractual and commercial risks throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure all contracts comply with relevant Irish legislation, industry regulations, and company governance requirements.
  • Support project teams during tendering, mobilisation, delivery, and project close-out.
  • Manage contract administration, including notices, variations, claims, extensions of time, and dispute avoidance.
  • Work closely with project managers, commercial teams, and external legal advisors to resolve contractual issues efficiently.
  • Develop and maintain contract management processes, procedures, and best practice across the business.
  • Review and improve standard forms of contract, terms and conditions, and commercial documentation.
  • Maintain accurate contract records and ensure appropriate governance and document control.
  • Support commercial negotiations with clients and strategic partners.
  • Provide mentoring and guidance to project teams on contractual awareness and compliance.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Degree in Law, Business, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A legal qualification (Solicitor, Barrister, or equivalent) is highly desirable but not essential.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in contract management within construction, engineering, infrastructure, utilities, or renewable energy sectors.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, high-value contracts from inception through completion.
  • Strong understanding of Irish contract law and commercial contracting principles.
  • Experience administering standard forms of contract such as FIDIC, NEC, JCT, or public sector forms is highly advantageous.
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex commercial agreements.
  • Experience managing contractual claims, variations, disputes, and risk mitigation.
  • Excellent commercial judgement with the ability to balance legal, commercial, and operational considerations.
  • Strong written communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Highly organised with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to project sites throughout Ireland as required.
